Robin Williams, 1951-2014 – Robin On Poetry

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Robin Williams’ death today.

We would like to share with you one of the best quotes from his character in ‘Dead Poets Society’ as he defended our art, poetry:

‘We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race.
And the human race is filled with passion.
And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.

But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.’

So if anybody ever ask you again why you bother with poetry, point them to this quote – it’s hard to argue.
